Frequently asked questions

What should I expect during my initial session?

In the first session, I like to hear more about your story - your past, present and future. We will also begin to explore what you want to focus on in counselling, and shape a vision for the counselling journey.

Is the information I share confidential?

All information disclosed within sessions is confidential and will not be revealed to anyone without your written permission, except for when law requires reporting. This confidentiality continues after the end of the counselling relationship.

Do you offer online or in-person counselling?

I provide online counselling services with in-person availability on Wednesdays downtown Vancouver. I will do my utmost to ensure confidentiality in all online communication. Please also consider your confidentiality when using electronic communication.

Will my insurance cover my fee?

You will need to check to see if your insurance coverage includes Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors or Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Many insurance providers take these credentials, but it is best to check in advance.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that it can be difficult to keep some appointments in the busyness of life. If a cancellation is required, please provide at least 24 hours notice. Clients will be charged for the missed session with less than 24 hours notice. Note that this policy will be flexible for concerns related to COVID-19.

What is the fee and how do I pay?

Fees are $170 + GST for an individual session and $190 + GST for a pre-coupling/pre-marital session. I have some sliding scale spots available. Payment is required 24 hours prior to the session. Electronic receipts will be issued. Payment can be made by electronic transfer.
